Emily & Barry’s Engagement

Congratulations to two of my good friends from high school. I was in Hong Kong for 2 weeks in March to attend another two of my high school friends’ wedding. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend Emily and Barry’s wedding in May. Instead, I was lucky enough to do a pre-wedding photoshoot with them during my visit.

It was a wonderful day weather-wise, but a little bit more humid than what I’m usually accustomed to. We first visited Stanley (赤柱). After some photos along the shore and street markets, we had a casual lunch. Then we visited Sheung Wan (上環), an older district with lots of older buildings for some colourful shots.

Le Le & Tim’s Wedding

Had a wonderful time shooting Le Le and Tim’s wedding. From the venue selected for their ceremony, to details in the wedding run-down, it was obvious that a lot of thought was put in. Since I worked with Le Le before, I knew the day was going to be well structured with ample amount of time allocated for each part of the day to take photos; this always helps as photographers. Even the weather cooperated since it didn’t rain until it was time to head indoors for the evening reception. Le Le had a bright smile on her the entire day and Tim was an energetic groom; this combination meant beautiful moments captured during the entire day.

Lydia & Brendon’s Wedding

Autumn breeze with lots of sunshine kickstarted Lydia and Brendon’s wedding day. As the day progresses, it felt like summer all over again with lots of laughter and a great time shooting outdoors at Edward Garden. The weather was definitely cooperating since storm clouds only appeared when it was time to move indoors for the ceremony and reception at Grand Baccus Banquet Hall in Scarborough.

Hilda @ 9 months old

Time flies by really fast; I still remember shooting Vivian and Peter’s wedding. And just a few weeks ago, I did a baby shoot for their beautiful daughter Hilda. She was definitely full of character and a bundle of joy. Although there was a full arsenal of toys and props, what makes a child laugh is usually the simplest of all things. In this case, sneezing and tickles.

Hana & Juno’s Engagement

A day trip engagement shoot with wonderful weather! I had the pleasure of doing Hana and Juno’s engagement shoot earlier this summer. It started at Humber Bay Park which is right by the lake with a nice view of Toronto’s skyline. Then it was off to Hamilton, the city of waterfalls. Albion Falls, the premier waterfall of Hamilton’s east end was our destination.

Fat Cat Wine Bar

The original plan was to revisit Barque Smokehouse with a few friends but with no reservations, the wait was at least an hour. Instead of starving, we decided to walk down Roncesvalles Ave. in search of another restaurant. We stumbled upon Fat Cat Wine Bar; and by luck, we purchased a Groupon earlier for oyster and cheese fondue dinner. Since this was a wine bar, the menu didn’t have any main courses, but only a short list of snacks (the wine list was extensive though). The cheese fondue dinner was definitely not enough for four people, so we ordered a variety of appetizers to accompany our wine.

Cabo San Lucas

Nothing beats escaping the cold to lie on the beach under the sun. A much needed vacation; I went to Mexico for a week late February and stayed at the all inclusive Riu Santa Fe. I didn’t get a chance to shoot a lot since I didn’t want to carry my camera gear around on boat cruises and snorkeling, but still managed to come back with some nice photos on the beach and while I explored the town of Cabo San Lucas.

Khao San Road

There was a lot of hype surrounding Khao San Road when it first opened due to the success of Sukhothai. I decided to try it out for dinner with a couple of friends. As usual with a lot of the smaller popular restaurants, they did not take reservations so expect a lengthy wait if you’re planning to go on Friday or Saturday. Regarding the food, they were good but not amazing; the dishes were authentic though. I found the mains better than the appetizers (but fried finger food can never be bad).

5 Doors North

There are a lot of restaurants around the Yonge & Eglinton area; this was the one we decided to visit for our friend’s birthday. Food was decent but not spectacular as some reviews claimed. The dishes were savory and the decor was interesting. It’s worth a visit if you’re looking for something Italian in the area. Daily special menu features various pastas and starters. One of the highlights of the dinner was the brussel sprouts with double smoked bacon.

Inaho Japanese Restaurant

Another great restaurant for Japanese food in Richmond Hill with a less extensive menu compared to Inatei. This is a smaller family run establishment so reservation is highly recommended if you’re planning to visit. Chefs specials change on a daily basis depending on what’s fresh. My friends and I came here for a birthday dinner and the food was satisfying. However, I suggest a smaller group for this restaurant since there is not an abundant selection of dishes.
